I like to movie movie!

Zokay more than half of my 2 weeks break is over, i have *count fingers* okay maybe we shouldn't count fingers just yet, too depressing.
What have accomplished in this holiday? How have i contributed towards creating a better world for us all? What great adventures have i been up to?

=P
Since i cant remember what happened at the very beginning of the holiday lets work it backwards.

TODAY! i watched "The Green Mile", I've had the dvd with me for quite a long time but forgot about it till today while i was eating Cococrunch. It's a beautiful story, i cant remember the last time a movie made me cry but this one sure did. The character John Coffey (like the drink just with a different spelling) was so sweet, innocent, and in awe of everything, and his kindness is not the kind of kindness we see everyday. Sure there are allot of kind people around, but sometimes kind people are kind for not very kind reasons themselves. His kindness flowed from somewhere much purer than the want to prove something to others, or to gain that "feel good" feeling for doing something commendable, it came with the ready willingness to abandonment of his own safety and comfort without a second thought. He was played by Michael Clarke Duncan, this huge fella, but something just tugs your heart when you see his innocent face in awe at stars, or corn bread, or wet leaves, or black and white movies you just wanna give him a big hug!!!

Gettin' to my knees. Prayin'. Lord in Heaven, sorry for all the bad shit I've done, all the people I've trampled on, I hope they forgive me, I won't do it again, that's for sure.
- The janitor rehearsing as an inmate during a rehearsal. They rehearse the whole process of execution when the prisoner is either meeting with their families or called to the office, just to make sure nothing goes wrong on the day of execution. Gosh I'm glad the electric chair is not in use in this country. Notice his pun "that's for sure"? because if he were really on death row he had no chance of doing it again now would he?

This is a shocking experience!
-Another trying to be funny moment when he sat in the electric chair-
Do you believe that if a man repents enough for what he done wrong, than he'll get to go back to the time that was happiest for him and live there forever? Could that be what heaven's like?
-Arlen Bitterbuck on death row-

"I'm tired, boss. Tired of bein' on the road, lonely as a sparrow in the rain. Tired of not ever having me a buddy to be with, or tell me where we's coming from or going to, or why. Mostly I'm tired of people being ugly to each other. I'm tired of all the pain I feel and hear in the world everyday. There's too much of it. It's like pieces of glass in my head all the time. Can you understand? "
-John Coffey-

He kill them with their love. With their love fo' each other. That's how it is, every day, all over the world.
-John Coffey-

And allot more quotes but i'd be in danger of writing the whole movie script here if i dont stop. haaaah satisfaction of watching a nice movie =)

Then some time back I finished the 1st part of Heroes season III! Ish i love Heroes, but somehow not many people I know watch it. I still cant decide which super power I would choose for myself, maybe Micah's ability to "talk to machines" need to bust the berlambak viruses that are attracted to my comp, or Mr. Linderman's power to "give life"because i really wanna keep a potted plant in my room but everything i buy seems to die on me, ahh decisions decisions.

Other movies that have been sucking the time and life outta me:

Twilight : Hey... it wasn't THAT bad what, and I've been converted to a Robert Pattinson fan! Yea i used to think he was for screaming preteens since my youngest sister is a huge fan, but nevermind la for a cute vampish guy i rela turun my standard and join them in the screaming.

Jack and Jill vs the World: Hmmm okay okay only la... abit cliche
Bride Wars : Hmmm cliche too but Anne Hathaway is so pretty! And no matter how bad it is, a wedding movie can never be too bad because you can admire the flowers, dresses, cakes, deco, and dresses ohh i said that already haha.
Wild Child: Hmmm this weird, cos i actually liked this teenager movie over the previous 2 adult movies. Me growing backward too now?
Madagascar 2: I didn't enjoy the 1st movie but this one made me laugh haha i love the self absorbed penguins lar..
August Rush:

Ehhh..thats all meh? I thought i watched more movies that those.
OHH! must not forget, lotsa lotsa astro:

There is this show on the Travel & Living channel, "Jon and Kate plus 8". It's adorable! It documents the lives of a couple with 8 kids, and the kids are S.H.O C.U.T.E!!! Yea i know, was talking to Pei the other day and we both concluded out oestrogen's starting to sing, oh wells.

Finished the old books i left half way when i traded my life for a life in clinical school. Ahhh new excuse to buy more? erm... me think not la, but then again.... people say we gotta spend to help the recession right? hehehehe...

Okay got exercise abit lar.
And got makan alot lar.
I forgot what this post was supposed to be about, i think i had it structured in my brain awhile ago but hmm...
it looks like such a long post maybe now.

OH! and i gotta figure out what i wanna do for my semester8 selective and elective!
It will be from Jan - Feb 2010, basically need to find a medical posting for 4weeks at any hospital local or abroad, probably local la. And i have an option of doing a non medical for the other 4 weeks. Of course when i heard that imagination went wild, can i go africa visit my dad's uncle? or mission trip? emergency medicine? Flying Doctors? But thats me la, big imagination, when it comes down to the actually planning : nada. We'll see how it goes, my dad actually gave me green light when i asked him about Flying Doctors, the same father who didnt allow me to go Redang for holiday on the pretense that i cant swim, maybe he doenst know about the crashes huh?

I'm a woman who loves musicals, I'm also a woman who is going to be very poor.

I don't have much time, exam is on tuesday and today is.....
crap... its saturday.

BUT there are a few words i gotta say before i get sucked into the black hole:

Puteri Gunung Ledang. The Musical. Season III.
Istana Budaya.
Must watch.
Book your tickets, think later.

"Kuhinakan diriku sendiri untuk merengkuh cinta sejati.
Cintamu bagai cahaya mentari yang membakar wajahku.
Meski sekilas kurasakan, namun akan menjadi bekal hingga akhir zaman"
~Gusti Puteri Retno Dumilah

~~Oh be still my heart~~

Trust me, even if you are the most clueless unpatriotic bimbo in this country, watch this.
Boyfriends bring your girlfriends, girlfriends drag your boyfriends, people without friends make some new friends and go go go!

I will elaborate more next week.
Its gonna be hard going back to basal cell carcinoma after an evening like that.

Come read about something FREAKING interesting!

Hello boring blog! I have no idea what to write in you anymore...
Asked Lesley wth should one blog about, and she according to her : Anything.
When asked to elaborate on that concept, according to her : Well you ate, and you bathed today didn't you?

(=.=") <---------- (OMG, that is SO what a Rachel would do, I'm spending too much time at home)

So i rushed back to Subang Friday afternoon, thinking Lesley would be back cos she told us she would be on the noon bus, but alas either my sister is a bimbo or i need hearing aids cos she arrived after 10pm which was also after i fell asleep in my new comfy green bed.

New Years came and went. Pretty eventful. Pretty fat. Pretty rich. Pretty broke.

WE HAD JAPANESE BUFFET FOR CNY DINNER!
Okok not the most Chinese thing to do,
(especially after watching "Ip Man" wah liao wei!!! dont get me started on Ip Man.... wah liao wei ok now i've started i need a new paragraph to elaborate on that, refer to the next paragraph after i finish talking about our buffet)
SASHIMI HEALS THE TIRED SOUL... *vussssh* i could feel the happy goodness replenishing my soul with each soft, smooth, oily, fragrant bite. And after a whole day's worth of walking around with the Tan women of the house, believe me when i say i deserved every bit of it. Can you rare salmon in a fish tank? Or do i have to create a upstream type of pond for them? hmmmm... I wanna breed some for lunch, dinner and breakfast. As to be expected of any self respecting chinese, i ate till the familiar nauseating feeling reminded me to stop......then ...i started eating again, i cant control it lar its in my blood. An eyeopener at dinner tho : i saw my mom down 4 huge oysters WITHOUT lemon, i dont understand the physiology behind that leh... H.O.W do you stand the sickly slime? Sisters were happy and contented with the sharksfin soup (that isn't even jap issit?) and ice cream free flow wheeeeeeee~ peppermint rocked!

Sadly i didnt have my "buffet shirt" on that day though. Every girl HAS to have a buffet-shirt, a shirt to be worn to buffets! Just buy a shirt meant for pregnant women and claim it as your own tadaaaa BUFFET-SHIRT!!! No more hassle sucking your tummy in after leaving the dinner table! a miracle! Lesley has 1, wait she has a few actually cis smart woman, Rachel obviously doesn't need it i don't know where all the food goes after passing that huge mouth of hers, but i didn't have one yet! Ahhh that didnt stop me though. But i found my official buffet-shirt in this lil shop in ss15 yesterday, so ya feel free to invite me to buffets and BBQs kay!

So that was CNY eve, then 1st day, then 2nd day, then 3rd day, then today is 4th day lor. My mom says its bad luck to visit people on the 4th year of new years, so we are stuck at home. But honestly its a good rest for the aching feet, AND i still ha vent touched my reports or started studying for the EOP next week. Ahh choi choi choi maybe it's bad luck to study on the 4th day of new years too no? hmmm shouldn't take a chance now should we? =p

OKAY *folds up sleeves* NOW lets talk about IP MAN!

Watched it with Ian Zing a few weeks ago, I heard allot of good comments about the movie so i was pretty hyped up about it. Hoho PLUS, we bought a container of "Ngaku" from Ikea, yea Ikea sells CNY cookies wei, since it was sealed and in an Ikea bag, i was allowed to bring it in! GOSH did Denise just figure out a loop hole for bringing in illegal food into the cinema? *applause applause*
Ya so was eating Ngaku (delicious btw), and watching the movie, WHEN THEY INTRODUCED THIS MAN:

This super irritating villain. Probably the best villain I've seen, trumping any Disney villain because just watching his minor role made me so frustrated with my Ikea plastic bag, it was fragmented by the end of the 2 hour movie. His role was a very small one, the assistant to a very feared general, but boy could he make my blood boil! Ok wont elaborate too much on that, might become a sensitive issue.

Eh i just said a few paragraphs before this that i have no idea what to blog?
K la more what-i-ate-when-i-showered posts if i don't figure something out soon.

Reports here i come.

The Duchess visited

It has been a good short week spent with Lesley back home.

She arrived on the 23rd, but I had class on the 24th so I managed to join them for the annual Christmas dinner at Andrew's place. 24th - 29th was spent in subang with them (not real quality time I'm afraid, i kept fretting about the upcoming TBL's and reports. I'm guilty of over worrying hmm shall be my new year's resolution then; to stop worrying), 30-31st had classes, 31st-1st came back to subang, driving back for class again tomorrow the 2nd day of this brand new year. Holidays are getting shorter, public holidays and festivities are starting to mean less. I guess I'm finally beginning to see the type of life i signed up for, its one thing to hear about it and another to go through it, of course this is the mildest of the mild what I'm going through, compared to the real houseofficers and medical officers who have to be on-call half the time, probably in a state 8hours from home. I still cant figure out how people do it, this whole business of growing up, how do you tear yourself away from being a child into being an emotionally independent adult? I wont complain, because i don't want pity, nor do i want to take pity on myself, but it does tug my heart each week i get into that lil old car (shite why does it sound like I'm complaining? im not complaining! it's just whats really happening)

OH ya! Lesley got an offer to study dentistry at IMU! Part of the reason she was so stressed during the short Christmas break was trying to decide if she wanted to stay in AIMST or transfer to IMU. The obvious reasons for IMU would be proximity to home, i dared not open my mouth too much because my clearly my judgment would have been clouded by my desire to see her home. But after talking to a friend in IMU, and allot of discussions, she has decided to finish what she started at AIMST. Which i am proud to say, was a very wise and matured decision on her part, of course she would like to be closer to home but she objectively chose what was best for her future and i admire that =) So ya, she is returning back to Kedah this saturday, but will be back soon for the chinese new year's holiday. Congratulate her ok! she made a very brave decision and we support her 100%.

Our beds are all nicely made, shirts well ironed, jeans hung neatly, tables cleared of junk, memang can tell from a mile away that Lesley Tan Suwen has been at work lar =p

Okay.. I'm going back tomorrow for a short class, better go prepare.
Hmmm i hardly write like this, this casual outpouring of whats on the happenings of my week, of course it ain't as entertaining to read compared to bimbotic accounts of non functioning taps or toiletbowls but it feels good, of course i might look at this a week from now and kick myself for being so boring and transparent.

Felling a lil feverish, maybe should bid the world an early g'night.

i think i used the phase "of course" at least 8 times in the writing of this post. lets add another lar.
Is Denise hot?
OF COURSE!!!!

okok nights.
